Lady Peek-A-Boo Casey Marie Sybert was born May 17, 1998 and joined our family at age 8 weeks old. A little ball of white fluff stole our hearts the minute we met her. In our eyes and our hearts, she was perfect in every way.
Just look at that smile on that little girl's face holding her new puppy! The expression on Blair's face says it all!
We searched for about a month and finally found this little shih tzu and she was a perfect match. The first week we had her she would put her little paws over her eyes as though playing peek-a-boo with you and was definitely a little prancer of a lady - hence the name - Lady Peek-A-Boo Casey Marie!
Casey's beautiful hair! She went to the groomer every Saturday morning! "You want to go see Gina?" and, my oh my, she would dance and prance and run to the back door! Casey knew when it was Saturday morning and often would go to the door and wait for me. She knew it was time for her weekly trip to see her groomer. Gina was the only groomer ever to groom her! Gina's Pet Salon on Kavanaugh in Hillcrest! Casey loved Gina and would squeal if she left her sitting on the grooming table for even just a minute. Casey wanted Gina in her sight at all times.
Casey was my daughter's beloved pet and spent the majority of her life attached to Blair. It wasn't until Blair left for college that my husband and I took a more important role in Casey's life.

Not all non-show pet shih tzu's have this beautiful coat of hair and many keep the hair cut short. But, Casey's hair was so pretty it was worth the weekly trip to see her sweet groomer, Gina!

This is how I will always remember Casey - her adult years - so full of happiness, love, and just pure joy to us daily! Always a sweet precious little lady to us.
So, cutting her hair short was not an option for us. We did cut it a little shorter as she aged, but even then, we didn't cut it super short. This is how I will always remember Casey - her adult years - so full of happiness, love, and just pure joy to us daily! We think she will live forever...she was the real queen of our home! Every family member doted over her! She brought much joy to our lives.
All of a sudden one day, realization is that your precious pet is starting to decline. Her little eyes are weak and the frisky prancing cutie doesn't prance and dance very often.
We could not have gotten through the past couple months without Dr. Joan Nafe, Hillcrest Animal Hospital.
Joan and Larry Nafe
Joan took care of our pets for the past 28 years, always returned our calls - listened to our concerns - calmed our fears - guided us through to the end, and felt our tears.

Today my heart is breaking,
Rest in Peace precious one,
Casey's #2 Mommy
P.S. writing this blog post about Casey is somewhat therapeutic for me, searching for peace and gentleness for my distraught state of mind.
